European
Information about European mammals:
European mammals are a collection of warm-blooded animals found in the areas of the island nations of Europe (England, Iceland, etc) along with the western nations (France, Spain, Germany to Scandinavia in the north and the eastern nations of Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, etc) The mammals are found in a variety of environment like mountains, forests, dry scrubby areas, open fields, farmlands, urban areas and even cities.
While most of the mammals have been extirpated from much of the region, in remote areas large mammals such as moose (called elk in Europe) bears and wolfs manage to survive sometimes alongside humans. While some populations are stable, recent studies by the World Conservation Union have shown that as many as 1 in 6 European mammals are faced with extinction; 27% show declining numbers with only 8% showing increasing numbers.
One bright spot is that the European Bison and Alpine Ibex both have been brought back from the brink of extinction. Programs have been initiated by the European Union in order to try and reverse the trend of extinction.
