The Western Green Toad - Anaxyrus debilis, also classified as Bufo debilis, is a species of amphibian native to the arid areas of the Southwestern North America, specifically the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Texas, as well as in northern Mexico. They are also popular pets and do well in captivity. They are not a large toad, growing to 2 inches in length. They're active only at night, and can be found during and immediately after periods of heavy rainfall, which is uncommon because their habitat is semi-arid and often very dry. Western Lowland Gorillas are large terrestrial primates native to the montane, primary and lowland forests of Central Africa. It is the smallest of the gorilla sub-species; males usually stand about 5-6 feet (1.5-1.8 meters) weighing roughly 300-600 pounds (140-270 kilograms) Like other gorillas species the females are smaller than the males. The gorillas spend much of their time feeding on the forest floor. Their diet is mostly based on plants such as bamboo, but they will also eat insects and small reptiles. Western Lowland Gorillas are the ones that are usually seen in zoos, and there are several hundred in captivity all over the world. Due to habitat loss, poaching and other environmental pressures all gorillas in Africa are considered critically endangered, and the entire population in the wild of is thought to be less than 50,000 total animals. The Western Meadowlark is a medium-sized member of the Icteridae family. They grow to be about 8.5 inches long (22 centimeters.) These songbirds are native to western North America, from Canada down to Mexico. They are closely related to Eastern Meadowlarks, but have a few physical difference in the patterns on their feathers. They are generally found in grasslands, prairies, open pastures, meadows and fields. Their nests are made on the ground, which makes them vulnerable to cats and accidental encounters with mowers. For a long time the Eastern and Western Meadowlark for a long time were considered the same species, and when the Western bird was finally recognized as a separate species it was given the semi-ironic latin name of "neglecta."
