The Chinook is a breed of dog developed in New England as a sledding dog. It is a fairly rare breed, not often encountered outside of the US, and is even uncommon in areas that it was bred. It was thought to be first bred in the early 20th century. They are larger dogs, usually standing about 21-27 inches (53-69 centimeters) at the withers, and can weigh anywhere between 55 to 90 pounds (25 to 41 kilograms) It is an officially recognized breed by the United Kennel club. They are usually light honey colored to reddish-gold, with black markings around the eyes, ears and muzzle. These dogs are very hard working an prefer to be active and given jobs.
