Apart from where these rays live, which is the warm tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, from South Africa to Australia, little is know of this species. They are a large species of ray, reaching about 4.5 feet (1.4 meters) across and nearly 13 feet long (4.1 meters) It is believed to feed on small crustaceans and fish, as is the case with other species of ray. Because so little is known of this animal, environmental groups are unsure of the status in regards to it's conservation.
