Information about the Merlin:

The Merlin - once called the "Pigeon Hawk" in some areas of North America - is a small member of the Falconidae family. It is native to much of the Northern Hemisphere, including most of North America, Europe and Asia. It is one of the most widespread birds of prey on the planet. They are smaller birds of prey being only about 9.4–13 inches long (24–33 cm) with a 20–29 inch wingspan (50–73 cm.) The females are usually slightly larger than the males. They are native to a variety of environments, such as taiga forests, plains, open fields, grasslands, steppe, scrubland and desert. They feed on many different animals, including insects, small mammals, other birds and even bats. Usually they will flush their quarry out and attack it in mid-air. Like other falcons, Merlins are sometimes kept as pets for falconry purposes. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94% Buy a Digital Download
