Artist’s notes:

The Rüppell’s Vulture was completed on 6.9.2013. Often I don’t set out to draw a specific species or animal – at times I just sort of happen to learn about them or see a good reference photo I think will make a strong drawing, then an illustration will then follow. That certainly is the case here – I doubt very much I will ever sell anything related to this drawing – African Vultures don’t have the same draw as tigers, hawks and turtles. But to me it makes a very powerful drawing that was worth the time I invested in it. The illustration is based on a photo by Ellen van Yperen.
