Rainforest

Information about Rainforest Animals:

The lush, tropical rainforests that circle much of the equator of the planet are home to hundreds of species of mammals. These animals range in size from the tiny mouse lemur of Madagascar, to the massive African Forest Elephants of the dense jungles of Africa. Many of these animals are well-known, like the Jaguar and Orangutan. But many of them, due to their isolation in places like Sumatra, are hardly known to science and little is known about them. While most are land animals, there are some aquatic mammals in the rainforest like the Amazon River Dolphin of South America. Many primates such as monkeys and apes are found in the tropics, as well as some bizarre animals like the sugar glider, a small gliding rodent found in the rainforests of Australia. Like other mammals, rainforest mammals are warm-blooded vertebrate animals who feed their offspring milk produced by the mother. Many highly endangered animals – the the Javan Rhino – are found nowhere else on earth except for the few remaining forests left where they are indigenous to. They, like many other rainforest animals, face an uncertain future as more and more of their habitat is lost due to human incursion, industrial exploitation and climate change.
