Lake Harriet Band Shelter – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Lake Harriet Band Shelter:
The current incarnation of the Lake Harriet Bandshell was constructed in 1986. It stands on the site of previous buildings, some of which were destroyed by fire. The building was designed by the local architectural firm of Bentz Thompson Rietow. The architect was Milo Thompson. The building itself has a 30 foot by 25 foot glass in the back of the building that faces out towards the lake, so as you look into from the front, you can see the lake and any activity on it. The bandshell has a seating capacity of about 900. The bandshell underwent a major refurbishing in 2004. The Park Board itself did not have the funds available, so local businessman Mark McGowan organized groups of volunteers, funded by private donations, to repaint the Bandshell, refectory and sailing pavilion. Working in tandem with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the exterior of the building was painted light brown (it had been blue) and some upgrades to the sound system were done, along with the large glass plate being replaced with a thicker, stronger glass. During the summer months concerts are held in the building with a wide variety of music being represented. Landmark Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Landmark Center:
The Landmark Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota originally served as a post office, custom house and courthouse for the state. The building was designed by Willoughby J. Edbrooke, who was a great admirer of the work of H. H. Richardson (the style is sometimes referred to as "Richardsonian Romanesque." The building was completed in 1902. In the 1970s, under a wave of pressure to eliminate all the older buildings in the Twin Cites, the Landmark Center was slated for destruction. However, a group was organized of concerned citizens and the building was saved. in 1978 the Landmark Center underwent a large renovation, and then was officially recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. Today the building houses offices, research centers, a gift shop, a cafe and the Schubert Club Museum. Milwaukee Depot, Minnesota – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Milwaukee Depot:
The Milwaukee Depot - also called the Old Milwaukee Road Depot - was a depot in downtown Minneapolis that brought trains into the city for seven decades. The structure was built in 1899, and the last train left in 1971. It was a travel and business hub, built in the Renaissance Revival Style. The interior was beautiful, with white marble floors, a ceiling of paneled oak and brown and cream colored bricks made up the walls. As Minneapolis grew, the depot was very active with dozens of trains coming and going daily. By 1971, however, the train traffic slowed to a stop and all service was cut. The building sat unused for many years, until 1998 when the property was developed and a large complex constructed, incorporating much of the original parts of the building. Minneapolis City Hall, Minnesota – Signed Fine Art Print

The Minneapolis City Hall - also called the Minneapolis Courthouse - was designed in 1888 by the architectural firm of Long & Keys. Construction on the building went on until 1909 and the final cost was in the area of $3.5 million dollars, considerably more expensive than the original $1.5 million that was budgeted for the project. It replaced an earlier building that served as the city hall, but that was too small to fit the ever expanding city's needs. The design is based on the Allegheny County Courthouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The building's style is known as "Richardsonian Romanesque" At the time, it was the tallest building in the city, and remained so until 1929 when the Foshay Tower was built. Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens – Signed Fine Art Print

The Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens is a large park that covers about 11 acres in the western part of the downtown area. It sits in front of the Walker Art Center, which operates it in connection with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. It is one of the largest open air, urban sculpture gardens in the world and features important works from many prominent 3D artists and sculptors. The most famous and recognizable of these is the 'Spoonbridge & Cherry" by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. The grounds also includes a large conservatory that houses a glass sculpture called "Standing Glass Fish." At one time, the park was connected to Loring Park to the east, but the construction of I-94 cleaved the park in two. The Minneapolis skyline includes many notable buildings, including some of the first "skyscrapers" in the central part of the United States. Several prominent architects have been employed in the design of some of the buildings, such as H. H. Richardson (Minneapolis City Hall) and I.M. Pei. The downtown area is one of the main hubs of business and financial activity in the region. Some of the buildings house offices for the top companies in the world, such as American Express and IBM. The Foshay Tower, built in 1929, was one of the earliest tall buildings in Minneapolis and remained so until 1971. Unfortunately, in the collapse of Wall Street Foshay lost his fortune. Much of the downtown area languished for decades, and the area called "the Gateway district" was especially bad and rundown. During the years of 1957-1956 nearly 1/3 of the entire downtown area had been leveled. Freeways breathed new life into the city with connections to the ever expanding suburbs and Saint Paul. In the following years, building was slow into the 1980's, with only the IDS Tower being the really remarkable building that was added. However, afterwards several others were added, including the Wells Fargo Center, the Campbell Mithun Tower (previously Piper Jaffray) and Capella Tower, built in 1992 as the headquarters of First Bank.The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Minnesota State Capitol Building, Saint Paul – Signed Fine Art Print

The Minnesota State Capitol is located in Saint Paul. The building was completed in 1905 at a cost of $4.5 million dollars. The architect was Cass Gilbert, who designed many prominent buildings in the central US. Gilbert took his inspiration from Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. The unsupported dome of the building is the second largest in the world, behind Saint Peter's. It is the third building to serve as Minnesota's capitol. The first burned down in 1881, and the second was deemed too small almost immediately after completion. One of the most notable features of the building are the gold gilded horses at the base of the dome in the front. This piece of art was designed and sculpted by Daniel Chester French and Edward Clark Potter. The four horses represent the power of nature: earth, fire, water and wind. At one time, the building had German quotations on the wall, but these were painted over during the tide of anti-German sentiment during World War II. These were later restored. Saint Mary’s Basilica, Minneapolis – Signed Fine Art Print

The Basilica of Saint Mary's in Minneapolis, Minnesota has the distinction of being the very first basilica established in the United States. It is the co-cathedral Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, along with the Cathedral of Saint Paul. The church is done in the style of Beaux-Arts architecture, and is considered to be one of the finest examples of this style in the nation. Construction began on the church in 1907 and was completed in 1915. The building was designed by renowned Frano-American architect Emmanuel Louis Masqueray (who also helped design the Cathedral of Saint Paul, but died while the building was still being planned.) in 1991, the entire copper roof was replaced due to the fact the original one was leaking water and causing damage to the interior of the church. Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Minnesota – Signed Fine Art Print

The Cathedral of Saint Paul, also called the National Shrine of the Apostle Paul, is a Classical Revival styled church in the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was built upon a large hill (called Cathedral Hill) looking over the downtown area of Saint Paul and across the 94 Interstate Highway towards the Saint Paul's Cathedral. It was designed by the prominent architects Emmanuel Louis Masqueray and Whitney Warren, after Archbishop John Ireland directed it's building on the site. Masqueray himself died in 1917, and only managed to complete a handful of designs of the interior. The design was inspired by French Renaissance architecture. The large dome reaches a height of 186 feet (57 meters) with a diameter of 76 feet (23 meters). Much of the materials for the cathedral came from nearby towns in Minnesota. The exterior walls are granite from Saint Cloud, and the interior walls are American Travertine, from Mankato. Spoonbridge and Cherry Sculpture – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Spoonbridge and Cherry:
The Spoonbrige & Cherry - also called the Spoon & Cherry - is a large piece of 3D artwork located in the MinneapolisSpoonbridge and Cherry. It was completed between 1985-1989 by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. It was a gift to the gardens from Frederick R. Weisman in honor of his parents; William and Mary Weisman. The materials used in the making of the sculpture is aluminum, paint and stainless steel. The size is approximately 354" tall, 618" long, and 162" wide. Oldenburg is known for his oversized versions of ordinary objects, and has other pieces in the Walker Art Museum, including one of a giant overturned bag of french fries. While the design of the sculpture is due mostly to Oldenburg, his wife helped develop the piece and added the element of the cherry. The spoon weighs about 5,8000 pounds and the cherry is 1,2000. The items were created in a shipbuilding yard in New England. The sculpture became an immediate success and anchor point of the drawing, while the image of the piece became a recognizable image for the city of Minneapolis and the impressive gardens filled with wonderful works of art.The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
