Freshwater Fish Posters
Freshwater fish comprise over half of all fish species. They can be found in in rivers, streams, lakes, wetlands, vernal pools and swamps. Physiologically, they’ve adapted to constantly take in water, excreting dilute urine and conserving salts, a challenge opposite to saltwater fish. These vital species face significant threats from habitat loss, pollution, dams, and invasive species, impacting their survival.
For more information on freshwater fish visit: US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Geographic or FreshwaterFish.org as they offer guides, species lists, and identification tips.
