Information about the Scarlet Macaw:

Scarlet Macaws are found in the humid lowland subtropical rain forests, open woodlands, river edges, and savannas of Central and South America. Body length is approximately 3 feet with the tail comprising approximately 1/3 - 1/2 of this. Tail feathers of males may be longer than females. Macaws feed mostly on fruits and nuts including large, hard seeds. The Scarlet Macaw can live up to 75 years, although, a more typical lifespan is 30 to 50 years. It is the national bird of Honduras.
