It is most commonly found in mountain forests. It grows to be about 14 inches long (36cm) most of which is tail feathers. There are five subspecies of this parrot, three of which are crimson colored, the others are yellow and a hybrid of red and yellow. While these parrots are not endangered, they do face threats from habitat loss, attacks from non-native domestic animals such as dogs and cats. Giant Red Tail Gourami – Signed Fine Art Print

The Red-Tail Giant Gourami are native to Malaysia and Indonesia, where they inhabits the slow waters of rivers, marshes and lakes. Adults can grow up to 20 inches (50 centimeters). These fishes have 10 dorsal spines, 13-14 dorsal soft rays, 11-12 anal spines and 16 – 18 anal soft rays. Body is large, laterally compressed, with an almost oval shape. The head is snub-nosed, with prominent jaw. The pectoral fins are large and rounded, while the dorsal and anal fins are slightly elongated. Even the tail is rounded and the ventral fins are threadlike. At the root of the pectoral fins appears a black ocellus. Another larger black ocellus appears on the caudal peduncle. Adults have bright red fin edges with filamentous extensions. Body colour varies from gray-blue to gray-green to brown, darker on the back. Females have duller colors.
