Information about the Asian Giant Hornet:
The Asian Giant Hornet - also called the "Murder Hornet" is the world's largest species of hornet. They can grow to 2" inches long (50 mm) with a wingspan of 3 inches (76 mm) They're generally found in low mountains and forests. They are predatory animals feeding on other insects and the honey from honeybees. The stinger of the Asian giant hornet is about .25 inches long (6 millimeters) and injects an especially potent venom that contains a cytolytic peptide that can damage tissue by stimulating phospholipase action, in addition to its own phospholipase. Masato Ono, an entomologist at Tamagawa University near Tokyo, described the sensation as feeling "like a hot nail being driven into my leg".
