Canvasback Duck – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Canvasback Duck:
The Canvasback Duck is the largest of the North America diving ducks. The adult duck grows to about (19–22 inches long (48–56 centimeters) long and weighs roughly 1.90–3.50 pounds (862–1,588 grams. It has a wingspan of 31–35 inches (79–89 centimeters.) The name comes from early European settlers, who thought the back resembled canvas in it's coloration. Other languages, such as French and Spanish, refer to it as white-backed. Because it is a diving duck, the bird feeds on mostly underwater animals and vegetation such as seeds, buds, leaves, tubers, roots, snails, and insect larvae. The population of the duck has fluctuated wildlife over the years, dropping to numbers so low it was considered for special protection in the 1980's. But since then their numbers have bounced back.
