Basset Hound
Basset Hound – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Basset Hound:
The Basset Hound is a short, stocky member of the Hound family of dogs. They are excellent scent hounds, and were selectively breed for the express purpose of tracking rabbit and other small game. The name "Basset" is derived from a French word meaning "low." The breed was developed in England and France where wealthy landowners would use them on hunts. They are of course noted for their loose fitting, dropping skin, and long ears - which are useful in directing scents into the basset's highly sensitive noses. Bassets usually come in bicolor or tricolor, with brown, black and white. They are very friendly, low maintenance dogs that are good with children making them extremely popular as house pets.
