These large arthropods build webs in forests near sunny fields so they are protected from the wind. The web can be quite large - up to 2 feet in diameter. The males are slightly smaller than the females. In a daily ritual, the Black and Yellow Garden Spider consumes the interior part of the web and then rebuilds at the start of each day with new silk.
