Information about the California Two-Spot Octopus:
The California Two-Spot Octopus, also called the Bimac Octopus, is native to the waters off the coast of California, but are also found in Eastern Pacific and East Africa and south to the Great Barrier Reef. The name comes from the two eye-like spots found on each side of it's head. They are smaller cephalopods, reaching only about a seven inch body size and arms about twenty inches long. For this reason they are often kept as pets. They do not live long, usually no more than two years.
