Information about the Lilac-Breasted Roller:
Lilac-Breasted Roller is a very colorful bird native to arid regions of sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula. It prefers woodlands, grasslands and open savannah, but requires trees to survive. It's about 14.5 inches long (37 cm.) It is feeds on a variety of prey, including grasshoppers, beetles, lizards, crabs, and small amphibians. It will usually take this prey from the ground. The rollers, which are a family of bird, get their name from their elaborate courtship ritual, which include diving and rolling in the air, with a fast rocking motion, usually accompanied with loud vocalizations.
