The Eastern Hercules Beetle - sometimes called the Elephant Beetle or Ox Beetle - is a species of Rhinoceros beetle native to the Eastern United States. They are among the largest beetles in North America, reaching lengths of 2.5 inches long (60 mm.) Males are larger and longer, and the females are smaller and have no horn. It is much smaller than many other species of Rhinoceros Beetles in other parts of the world. The beetles are found in the forests of eastern and southeastern United States, from New York state, Illinois and Indiana, south to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico, with eastern Texas which marks the western limit of its range.
