Muskellunge – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Muskellunge:
The Muskellunge or Muskie is a large predatory freshwater fish native to the lakes and large rivers of North America. It is the largest member of the pike family. Generally these fish grow to be between 28-48 inches (.71-1.2 meters) weighing in the area of 5-36 pounds (2.3-16 kilograms) They can grow to be much larger - over 6 feet (2 meters) long weighing 70 pounds (32 kilograms.) They are the top predator in the lake, and feed on nearly all animals that might be around; crayfish, frogs, fish, ducklings, snakes, mice, muskrats and other rodents. These freshwater monsters are so bold they will sometimes attack humans in shallow water. They are also highly prized by fishermen and women. Unfortunately, because of their low productive rate they have become very scarce in much of their former range. Anglers are encouraged to "catch and release" when they hook a Muskie.
