The Harpy Eagle is a large prey of prey native to the neotropical regions of Central and South America. it is one of the largest species of eagles living on the planet today. It usually can be found in the upper canopies of the tropical lowland rainforests. These massive birds have an impressive wingspan of and have a wingspan of between 5 feet 9 in to 7 feet 4 inches (176 to 224 cm.) The Harpy Eagle is an apex predator, meaning that it is the top of the food chain in it's environment. It is a skilled hunter, sailing between the trees of the rainforest, plucking monkeys sloths right off the trees. Due to habitat destruction the Harpy Eagle is nearly extirpated from Central America and is considered threatened in South America. It is the national bird of the country of Panama.
