Information about the Desert Horned Viper:
The Desert Horned Viper, is also called the Saharan Horned Viper, African Desert Horned Viper and Asp - is a venomous snake native to the deserts of Northern Africa and parts of the Middle East. It often is easily recognized by the presence of a pair of "horns" (although hornless individuals do occur.) The average total length including body + tail is 12-24 inches (30–60 cm), with a maximum total length of 33 inches (85 cm). Females are generally larger than the males. These snakes favor dry, sandy areas with sparse rock outcroppings, and tend not to prefer coarse sand. While the venom is not very toxic, it is dangerous and can cause death if not treated.
