Information about the Koala:
The Koala are arboreal marsupials that feed on the leaves of the Eucalyptus tree. Although they are often called 'koala bears' they are not a true bear. They are in fact more closely related to the kangaroo. They are about 30 inches high and weigh about 26 lbs. In the wild koalas are thought to live for around ten years. Koalas have a specially adapted digestive tract that assists in breaking down their high fiber, low carbohydrate diet of toxic gum leaves. Koalas can sleep as long as 18 hours a day.
