Information about the Golden Lion Tamarin:

The Golden Lion Tamarin is a small and very endangered primate native to a few tiny sections of rain forest in southern Brazil. There is estimated to be less than 1,000 in the wild and roughly 500 in zoos around the world. While still relatively small for a monkey, it is the largest of the family of Callitrichidae, which are the New World monkeys of tamarins and marmosets. They are about 10.5 inches long (26 cm) and weighs roughly 1.35 pounds (620 g.) The Golden Lion Tamarin is rarely encountered out of the trees, where it forages for food such as fruits, flowers, nectar, bird's eggs, insects and small vertebrates. They usually live in groups of up to individuals, and have a complex social order. While there are aggressive conservation programs working to save these primates from extinction, because there are so few remaining decline in genetic diversity is threatening them through inbreeding. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94% Buy a Digital Download
