Information about the Moon Jellyfish:
The Moon Jellyfish - also called the Moon Jelly, Saucer Jelly or Common Jellyfish - refers to a group of about ten species of jellyfish which are so similar in appearance as to be nearly impossible to tell apart without the aid of of genetic sampling. This genus is found in most of the world's oceans, from the tropics to as far north as latitude 70°N and as far south as 40°S. Like other jellies, Aurelia aurita feeds on plankton that they catch in their long tendrils as the jellyfish drifts on the sea currents. They are predated upon by just a few animals, such as the Mola Mola or Ocean Sunfish and the Leatherback Sea Turtle.
