Apache Trout – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Apache Trout:
The Apache Trout is a species of freshwater fish native to the clear, cool streams of the White Mountains in Arizona. It is one of two species of trout in the state of Arizona, with the other being the Gila Trout. They usually grow to anywhere between 6 and 24 inches (61 centimeters) weighing no more than 6 pounds. The Apache trout is native to the upper Salt River watershed (which includes the Black and White Rivers) and the upper Little Colorado River watershed. Due to habitat destruction and other environmental pressures - such as hybridization with the Rainbow Trout) the Apache Trout is considered critically endangered and conservation efforts are being made to assure the species does not go extinct. It is the state fish of Arizona.
