Information about the Ornate Chorus Frog:
The Ornate Chorus Frog is a small (1-1 7/16" or 2.5-3.7 cm) arboreal amphibian native to the southern coastal plains, cypress ponds, flooded meadows and flatwood ditches of North Carolina to eastern Louisiana and south throughout much of northern Florida. They are members of the Family Hylidae, which encompasses a wide-ranging species of frogs, including many other treefrogs. These small, colorful amphibians feed primarily on small insects and other invertebrates. They are mostly nocturnal and are rarely seen during the day. Their shrill mating call is reminiscent of an insect.
