Information about the Marbled Godwit:
The Marbled Godwit is a large North American shorebird native to North America from Alaska down south to Mexico. It breeds in the northern prairies of western Canada-(Canadian Prairies), and the north central Great Plains, United States near marshes or ponds. These birds usually nest on the ground in short grass. During the 19th century the number of Marbled Godwits dropped drastically due to overhunting, the numbers rebounded and the bird is not considered endangered. But their numbers have dropped again due to habitat loss. The Marbled Godwit feeds on insects and small crustaceans, usually hunting for them with their long beaks, poking in the shallow water or shoreline. It is the largest of the godwit species, with a wingspan of about 28-35 inches (70-88 cm) The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with GiclĂ©e printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94% Buy a Digital DownloadOchre Sea Stars – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Ochre Sea Stars:
The Ochre Sea Star - also called the Purple Sea Star - is a common starfish native to the rocky coastlines and intertidal zones of the northern Pacific Ocean. While most of the species are purple, color variations can include orange, yellow, red/brown and brown, depending on the location and temperature of the water. This species of starfish is carnivorous and feed on mussels. The Ochre Sea Star has five eyes located at the tips of the arms. They don't have vision, but these eyes are sensitive to light. These echinoderms are often exposed when the tide is low. They attach themselves to the rocks by way of their tube feet. These feet are used to keep the starfish in place and prevents them from being swept out by the massive wave action which are common within the intertidal zone. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
