Pintos are horses that have a coat color of big patches of white and another color. The distinct coloration is a very popular pattern for horses, although it is rarely seen in the wild. There are more pinto horses in the United States then anywhere else in the world. The breed is sometimes mistaken for a painted or Appaloosa horse, but when seen side by side the painted horse's coloration is more leopard-like and varied and not so monochromatic as the pinto.
