Emperor Tamarin – Signed Fine Art Print

Information about the Emperor Tamarin:

The Emperor Tamarin is a small primate native to a relatively small section of rainforest in the Amazon in South America in east Peru, north Bolivia and in the western Brazil. The name comes from the highly distinctive "moustache" that supposedly resembled the Emperor Wilhelm of Germany. It is very small, growing only to about 9-10 inches long (23-26 cm) and weighing 18 ounces (500 grams.) There are two subspecies of the Emperor Tamarin: the Black-chinned Emperor Tamarin (Saguinus imperator imperator) and the Bearded Emperor Tamarin (Saguinus imperator subgrisescens.)They are active during the day, wandering in the trees eating fruits and flowers, many of which are readily available due to their flourishing vegetational habitats. They are considered endangered due to poaching and habitat loss.
