Information about the Northern Parula:

The Northern Parula is a small New World Warbler. It a migratory species that winters in southern Florida and along the coastlines of northern Central America, the West Indies and most of the Lesser Antilles. They are smaller birds, with lengths of about 4.3 to 4.9 inches (10.8 to 12.4 cm) with a wingspan of 6.3 to 7.1 inches (16 to 18 cm) and weighing roughly 0.18 to 0.39 oz (5 to 11 g.) While primarily a forest dweller, the bird will also inhabit dry forests, coastlines, farmlands and swamps, as long as there is enough tree cover in the canopy of the environment. It occasionally will visit backyard birdfeeders. Like other warblers, they feed on a variety of plant and insects, such a spiders, grasshoppers, beetles, caterpillars, berries, seeds and nectar. It will search for food on the ground as well as in the air and foliage.
