The Golden Tegu - also called the Gold Tegu, Common Tegu, Columbian Tegu and Black Tegu - is a species of reptile native to in the tropical forests and swamps of northern and central South America, as well as Panama. They can grow to be about 2-3 feet long (60-100cm) They have powerful limbs and a very thick tail. Unlike their relatives the Red Tegu and Argentine Black & White Tegu they do not make very good pets.
