Aardvark – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Aardvark:
Aardvarks (also sometimes called Anteaters and Antbears) are the only living members of the order Tubulidentata. They are large, burrowing mammals native to sub-Saharan areas of Central Africa and into the southern parts of the continent. The name 'aardvark means 'earth pig' or 'ground pig' in Afrikaans/Dutch. The aardvark is mostly nocturnal, and they feed almost exclusively on termites and ants. Despite appearances and similar behaviors the aardvark is not related to the South American Anteater. Fine art illustration of an Acmon Blue Butterfly (Plebejus acmon.)
Information about the Acmon Blue Butterfly:
The Acmon Blue Butterfly is an alpine butterfly native primarily to the mountainous regions of California, but it can also be found in Oregon and in parts of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. It is a small butterfly with a wingspan measuring only about 1-1.3 inches across (2-2.9 centimeters). The upperside of the males are blue/blueish purple with dark narrow borders, whereas the female are mostly brown. It is a very active butterfly, landing and perching for only a few seconds as a time. Like many other Lycaenid butterflies, it has a mutualistic relationship with ants, who protect the larvae of the species in exchange for honeydew that it secretes. The adults feed on flower nectar from a variety of plants. Information about the Acorn Woodpeckers:
Acorn Woodpeckers (Melanerpes formicivorus) are called so because of their dependence on the acorn. These birds live in extended family groups. Unlike most birds, they are able to store large amounts of food by drilling holes into the wood of dead trees, telephone poles or even wooden buildings, then storing acorns into the holes. The birds also feed on insects, tree sap and fruit. They reside in coastal oak forests on the west coast of North America, down through Central and into South America. African Crowned Eagle – Signed Fine Art Print
Fine art print of an African Crowned Eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer.)
Information about the African Crowned Eagle:
The African Crowned Eagle - also called the Crowned Hawk-Eagle - is a large bird of prey found in sub-Saharan Africa. Its preferred habitats are principally riparian woodlands and various forests. At least 90 per cent are mammals, such as small ungulates, rock hyrax and small primates like monkeys. Due to a relatively high level of habitat adaptability, it was until recently considered to be faring well by the standards of large, forest-dependent raptors. However, today it is generally thought that it is decreasing far more than was previously perceived due to the almost epidemic destruction of native tropical African forest. It is now listed as Near Threatened.
