Description

Tennessee is home to many different types of amphibians like frogs, toads, and salamanders. This includes the official state amphibian: the Tennessee Cave Salamander (Gyrinophilus palleucus). Amphibians are found in various moist, water-adjacent habitats like ponds, streams, lakes, swamps, and ditches, as well as damp woodlands, often hiding under logs, rocks, and leaf litter.
