Information about the Asian Elephant:
The Asian or Asiatic Elephant is one of the three living species of elephant and the only living species of the genus Elephas. The elephants are found primarily in large parts of Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and parts of Indonesia. It is considered endangered with between 25,600 and 32,750 left in the wild. Asian Elephants weight between 6,000 and 14,000 pounds and their height usually reaches about 7-12 feet. The animals may spend as much as 18 – 20 hours daily feeding.
