The Barred Owl (Strix varia) is a raptor native to much of the United States and Canada. It’s also known as the Northern Barred Owl and three subspecies are currently recognized. It is one of the few owls whose range is expanding, most likely due to human activity allowing it enter areas it couldn’t before.
