Missouri is home to an array of different butterflies, including the Eastern Black Swallowtail which is the official state butterfly. Monarchs are also common as they migrate through the state. Other species include different types of Swallowtails, Sulphurs, Fritillaries, Skippers, Question Marks, and Hackberry Emperors. These insects visit flowers for nectar and utilizing specific host plants like milkweed, dill, or clover for their caterpillars.
