The Galapagos Tortoise (Chelonoidis nigra) is a large land reptile native to the Galapagos Islands off coast of South America. They are the largest tortoise on earth and found nowhere else. Human activity negatively impacted these tortoise for years, but strong conservation programs have helped stabilize their populations.
