The Harris’s Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus) is a medium-large sized buteo found in semi-arid brush habitats from the southwestern US through Central America an into the drier area of South America. Unlike other raptors Harris Hawks will often remain with the family unit for a few years, helping to raise newborns and hunt cooperatively with other family members. This bird is very intelligent and can be trained, and because of this it is a very popular bird with falconers.
