Description
Mammals of the African Savanna Poster
The African savanna is home to the world’s most diverse collection of large mammals. This ecosystem is defined by its open tree canopy and vast grasslands, supporting a complex food web of herbivores, apex predators, and scavengers. It is host about 45 species of mammals, including massive herds of herbivores (elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest) and top predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. These mammals are adapted to seasonal changes, with many undergoing large migrations for water and food. Savannas cover roughly half of the African continent.
