The Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. They’re native to North America, but have been successfully introduced to Australia, New Zealand and other islands in the Pacific. They are known for their long migrations, which can cover over 3,000 miles.
