Information about the Smallmouth Bass:
The Smallmouth Bass is a member of the sunfish family. It is one of the black basses. It is a very popular sports fish for anglers. It has many different names, including bronzeback, brown bass, brownie, bronze bass and bareback bass. In general the bass grown to be about 9 to 14 inches in length and about 2 pounds, although they can grow larger. They are usually found in lakes and rivers with clear water, with areas that have tree stumps, large rocks and vegetation. The fish is carnivorous and feeds on crayfish, insects and smaller fish. Males are usually smaller than the females. Because this is such a popular sports fish it has been introduced into many areas they're not native to in Europe and Asia.
