The Madagascar Long-Eared Owl is a medium sized owl found in woodland habitats on the island of Madagascar. Adult owls grow to be about 16-20 inches long (40-50 cm) which makes it the largest owl on Madagascar. Females grow to be slightly larger than the males. Like other owls, they are mostly nocturnal, spending most of the daylight hours in a hiding place. They emerge at dusk and begin to hunt, usually feeding on amphibians, reptiles, birds and small mammals.
