The Acmon Blue Butterfly is an alpine butterfly native primarily to the mountainous regions of California, but it can also be found in Oregon and in parts of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. It is a small butterfly with a wingspan measuring only about 1-1.3 inches across (2-2.9 centimeters). The upperside of the males are blue/blueish purple with dark narrow borders, whereas the female are mostly brown. It is a very active butterfly, landing and perching for only a few seconds as a time.
