Information about the American Foxhound:
The American Foxhound is a scent hound and is related to the English Foxhound. The breed came from England in the 1600s. They were developed in Europe to hunt as a pack and, as the name implies, specifically for the hunting of foxes. The American Foxhound is somewhat taller and rangier than it’s English relative. Both breeds are generally tri-colored (brown, black and white) although they can be almost any color. They are medium-sized dogs with a narrow chest and a long muzzle, which helps track the scent of the prey it has been pursuing. It is the official dog of the state of Virginia.

The Caribou or Reindeer is a deer species native to the arctic and sub-arctic regions. They can be found in the tundra and taiga environments. While their population are steady, there are a few sub-species that have gone extinct. Originally, the reindeer was found in Scandinavia, eastern Europe, Russia, Mongolia, and northern China north of the 50th latitude. In North America, it was found in Canada and Alaska, and the lower northern United States from Washington to Maine. Up until the 19th century, this deer was found in North America as far south as Idaho. Unlike some deer species, both sexes grow antlers. Reindeer are ruminants, having a four-chambered stomach. They mainly eat lichens in winter, especially reindeer moss. However, they also eat the leaves of willows and birches, as well as sedges and grasses. The Chestnut-Backed Chickadee is a small passerine bird native to the low elevation coniferous and mixed coniferous/deciduous forests. It is also commonly seen in backyards at birdfeeders. They can be found from Alaska in the north, all the way through much of the Pacific Coast to southwestern California. They are small - even for a chickadee - only 4.5–4.9 inches long (11.5–12.5 cm) weighing about 0.30–0.44 ounces (8.5–12.6 g.) They will eat insects and other small invertebrates found in the foliage, as well as seeds, fruits and will readily eat food offered at birdfeeders, and are especially drawn to suet. The scientific name changed from "Parus rufescens" to "Poecile rufescens" representing the belief that the bird is it's own specific genus.
