American Shad – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the American Shad Fish:
The American Shad is a species of migrating herring native to the waters from southern Labrador in Canada south to northern Florida. Despite the name, they are not closely related to other shads. They are medium-sized fish, weighing roughly between three and eight pounds when fully grown. American Shads have a natural flavor that makes them a very desirable fish for the dinner table. The eggs of the fish (called roe) are considered a delicacy. Although most of the American Shad’s life is spent at sea, it does travel up rivers to spawn. In 2003 the American Shad was declared the official fish for the state of Connecticut.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The American Shad was completed on 7.26.2012. This is another fish that, until I started the 50 State Project I had no idea existed. And when I looked at the herring itself, I doubted it’s somewhat plain anatomy would make for a very interesting drawing. But when I started filling in the image, especially around the head area, I thought that it would end up being a fairly good subject and very decent representational of the species
