Animals of the Pacific Temperate Rainforest

The Temperate Rainforest of the Pacific Northwest boasts incredible biodiversity, from iconic megafauna like black bears, wolves and elk along with unique endemic species like the Olympic marmot. There are roughly 140 mammal species, over 570 bird species and over 100 species of amphibian and reptiles. While the area’s remoteness and harsh winters limit the number of people that live in the area, human-wildlife conflict is a concern for all animals, but especially bears, wolves, and cougars.
