Description

Information about the Atlantic Tarpon:

Atlantic Tarpon are large elopiforme (ray-finned fishes) which inhabit coastal waters, estuaries and lagoons of the Atlantic coastline of the Americas and Europe, typically in the more tropical and subtropical regions. They can grow to be over seven feet long weighing over 350 pounds. The tarpon is a prized saltwater game fish, but the fish itself is not very edible and it is illegal to catch and keep one without a permit, so most fishing of this animal is ‘catch and release.’ It is the official saltwater fish of the state of Alabama.

Copperband Butterflyfish – Signed Fine Art Print

    $19.95 – $27.95

Information about the Copperband Butterfly Fish:

The Copperband Butterfly Fish - also called the Beak Coralfish - is a medium-sized fish (generally growing to about 8 inches (20 cm) long) found in and around rocky shorelines, coral reefs and estuaries of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It is one of three members of the genus Chelmon. This genus is noted for their distinctive long beaks. They're usually found at depth of around 3- 80 feet (1-25 meters) This species is particularly territorial and will defend it's territory against almost any animal that comes into it. Because of their great beauty and coloration they are also very popular aquarium fish, although they can be difficult to keep and are only recommended for advanced aquarists.

Box Jellyfish – Signed Fine Art Print

    $19.95 – $27.95

    Information about the Box Jellyfish:

The Box Jellyfish - also called the Sea Wasp - is a species of jellyfish found in coastal waters from northern Australia and New Guinea north to the Philippines and Vietnam. It has been described as "the most lethal jellyfish in the world", with at least 63 known deaths from 1884 to 1996. Notorious for its sting, this jelly has tentacles up to 9.8 feet long (3 meters) which are covered with millions of cnidocytes. On contact these release microscopic darts delivering a powerful venom. Being stung commonly results in excruciating pain, and if the sting area is significant, an untreated victim may die in as few as three minutes. The amount of venom in one animal is said to be enough to kill 60 adult humans (although most stings are mild). C. fleckeri is the largest of the box jellies, many of which may carry similarly toxic venom. Its bell grows to about the size of a basketball. From each of the four corners of the bell trails a cluster of 15 tentacles. The pale blue bell has faint markings; viewed from certain angles, it bears a somewhat eerie resemblance to a human head or skull. Since it is virtually transparent, the creature is nearly impossible to see in its habitat, posing particular danger to swimmers.

California Two-Spot Octopus – Signed Fine Art Print

    $19.95 – $27.95

Information about the California Two-Spot Octopus:

The California Two-Spot Octopus, also called the Bimac Octopus, is native to the waters off the coast of California, but are also found in Eastern Pacific and East Africa and south to the Great Barrier Reef. The name comes from the two eye-like spots found on each side of it's head. They are smaller cephalopods, reaching only about a seven inch body size and arms about twenty inches long. For this reason they are often kept as pets. They do not live long, usually no more than two years. California Swell Shark – Signed Fine Art Print

    $19.95 – $27.95

Information about the California Swell Shark:

The California Swell Shark - also called the Balloon Shark or simply Swellshark - is native to the continental sea shelves, kelp forests and shallow inshore reefs, sometimes wedged into a rock crevice during the day emerging at night to hunt for food such as small bony fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. They are not dangerous to humans, and will avoid contact with divers by remaining in their hiding spots, even swelling up to make sure they are not dislodged. This defense of inflating itself to become larger is also useful in avoiding predators, making them too large for some predators to attack. $19.95 – $27.95

    Information about the Chambered Nautilus:

The Chambered Nautilus is a mollusk, related to the octopus, squid, clam and snail. They are found in the Indo-Pacific area and live primarily near the bottom in waters up to 1500 feet deep. At night they rise closer to the surface. Nautilus pompilius can grow to a length of about 8 inches. The animal creates chambers that increase in size as it moves to occupy the outermost chamber of its shell. An adult may have about 30 of these chambers. The smooth thin shell spirals and has a pattern of brown and white.
