They generally stay in coastal waters in the shallows where they hunt for fish, crustaceans and bivalves. Like all octopuses, Octopus vulgaris is an expert at camouflage. They are able to change the texture of their skin along with the color to blend into their surroundings. When threatened they can discharge a large dark cloud of ink. Information about the Bat Ray:
The Bat Ray is a is a stingray found in muddy estuaries and bays, kelp beds and rocky-bottomed shoreline in the eastern Pacific Ocean, usually along the coastline from the Gulf of California up to Oregon. They can live in waters with various levels of saline, so they are able to venture far into brackish waters searching for food. Bat Rays feed on a variety of sea animals, such as crustaceans, mollusks and small fish. They beat their large pectoral fins (or "wings") along the sandy bottoms of the ocean to expose their prey. Like other rays, they have a sharp stinger in their tails, which can be used to defend itself against potential predators. Bat Rays are fairly placid animals and are very popular in ocean themed parks (such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium) and will tolerate being touched by humans. Information about the Blue Sea Star:
The Blue Sea star is a member of the family Ophiothricidae. It is found in the warm tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific. While they are called Blue Sea Stars, there is a good deal of color variation, and they can be aqua, purple or even orange. They grow to be about 12 inches in diameter (30 cm). They are usually found on the sea floor, not too far from the shoreline. The Blue Sea Star is predated on by various animals, such as pufferfish, shrimp, and sea anemones. This sea star does very well in captivity and due to it's beautiful coloration it is often kept in captivity by aquarists. Due to this, along with the use of the sea star for souvenirs to sell to tourists, their numbers have declined in the wild. Information about the Blue-Ringed Octopus:
Blue-Ringed Octopuses are three identified species of small octopus that live in tide pools and shallow areas in the Pacific Ocean. They are found from Japan down to Australia. They are very small - only perhaps the size of a golf ball. Blue-Ringed Octopus generally feed on small crustaceans like shrimp and crabs. They grabs their victims and use their powerful venom to paralyze them. The venom this cephalopod has is more than powerful enough to kill humans and there is no known antidote. Information about the Box Jellyfish:
The Box Jellyfish - also called the Sea Wasp - is a species of jellyfish found in coastal waters from northern Australia and New Guinea north to the Philippines and Vietnam. It has been described as "the most lethal jellyfish in the world", with at least 63 known deaths from 1884 to 1996. Notorious for its sting, this jelly has tentacles up to 9.8 feet long (3 meters) which are covered with millions of cnidocytes. On contact these release microscopic darts delivering a powerful venom. Being stung commonly results in excruciating pain, and if the sting area is significant, an untreated victim may die in as few as three minutes. The amount of venom in one animal is said to be enough to kill 60 adult humans (although most stings are mild). C. fleckeri is the largest of the box jellies, many of which may carry similarly toxic venom. Its bell grows to about the size of a basketball. From each of the four corners of the bell trails a cluster of 15 tentacles. The pale blue bell has faint markings; viewed from certain angles, it bears a somewhat eerie resemblance to a human head or skull. Since it is virtually transparent, the creature is nearly impossible to see in its habitat, posing particular danger to swimmers. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
