Bears are large, intelligent mammals of the family Ursidae found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, with eight species ranging from mostly carnivorous polar bears to the herbivorous giant panda. Generally, they are omnivorous, consuming berries, nuts, insects, and occasionally small mammals or carrion, with a reliance on seasonal foods.
