Arizona boasts over 300 butterfly species, including famous migrants like Monarchs and Painted Ladies, alongside unique residents like the state butterfly: the Two-Tailed Swallowtail. All of these butterfly species are supported by specific host plants like milkweed, violets, nettles, and trees blossoms. Butterflies in Arizona face a number of challenges, such as habitat loss and degradation of remaining habitat by pollution. But conservation efforts in the state focus on restoring native prairies and planting host species to help them thrive. For more information on Arizona butterflies visit: Arizona Fish & Game Department, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, and iNaturalist as they offer guides, species lists, and identification tips.
The Butterflies of Arizona poster features 20 different types of butterflies, complete with both common and scientific names and is shipped in a sturdy 2″ mailing tube with plastic endcaps. Poster can be signed or customized by the artist on request.
